Always our favorite shopping experience while in the High Country, The Watauga County Farmers’ Market is where we plan our meals for the week. It is always a friendly, community based, market day.
The Watauga County Farmers’ Market will be opening for it’s 37th season this Saturday May 1. The Mountain Alliance will be there to help us celebrate by serving pancakes, local eggs, and local sausage. We are all looking forward to greeting old friends as well as welcoming many new visitors to the market. There will be an even greater range of products at the market this year including new craft items, prepared foods, and local meats. We hope you will be able to find many things to make you life more healthful and enjoyable.
Sally Thiel of Zydeco Moon Organic Farm will have a variety of heirloom tomato plants for sale including Cherokee purple, brandywine and green zebra. She will also have rhubarb, lettuce, spinach, onions and bok choy.
The Pasta Wench returns with a new improved ravioli and pastas, and gluten free fettucini. New flavors include Roasted Red Pepper and Onion, Gorgonzola with Pine Nuts and several new Fettucini flavors: Spinach, Roasted Tomato & Basil.
